Smoke & Hazardous Chemical Fumes Warning

Currently, we do not recommend moving into this building if you have children, are elderly, or have respiratory issues. The superintendent and building staff frequently smoke in common areas, doorways, the garage, and on balconies, leading to persistent secondhand smoke exposure that can worsen asthma, cause respiratory infections, and irritate eyes and throats.

History

The building used to have a no smoking policy but the staff removed the no smoking sign, and smoking policies are not enforced.

What to expect if you move in:

  • Regular smoke odor in hallways, entryways, and common outdoor spaces.
  • Smoke drifting into units from balconies and stairwells.
  • Increased risk of asthma attacks, coughing, and other respiratory symptoms for children.
  • Heavy bleach fumes (which have caused multiple tenants headaches, nausea, and vomiting.)

If you choose this building, insist on lease clauses or building rules that protect you from smoke exposure.
